MirrorSurface 2D Export
Register faces as mirrors once, keep working on the model, and export the current SketchUp view with camera-correct reflections clipped to each mirror boundary.
1. Register mirror surfaces
- Open Extensions → MirrorSurface 2D Export.
- Choose Select Mirror Surfaces….
- Click a face to add or remove its mirror designation.
- Press Esc when the selection is complete.
Mirror registrations are stored inside the SKP model. You do not need to select them again for every export.
2. Export the current view
- Leave group or component editing mode.
- Position the SketchUp camera and choose the desired style.
- Choose Export 2D with Reflections….
- Select the output file, width, and reflection depth.
The extension creates temporary reflected views, clips them to the mirror faces, and restores the original camera, visibility, style, and section settings after the export.
Reflection depth
Depth 1 · Default
One reflection
Use for normal scenes. It is faster and covers objects seen directly in each registered mirror.
Depth 2
Mirror in mirror
Use when a registered mirror is visible inside another mirror. It needs additional captures and can take longer.
Supported files
PNG, JPG/JPEG, BMP, TIF, and GIF.
The result reproduces the active SketchUp display style. It is not a photorealistic renderer and does not modify or duplicate the original model geometry.
Models opened without the extension
A model containing registered mirrors can be opened on another computer or in SketchUp Web without the extension. The stored registration data is ignored and does not change the model geometry.
Troubleshooting
- No mirrors found
- Register at least one visible face and confirm that it still exists in the model.
- Export is slow
- Reduce the output width or use reflection depth 1 for complex scenes.
- License cannot be verified
- Sign in to SketchUp, check the internet connection, and update the license from Extension Manager.
